We went to the Cinnamon Restaurant at the Hilton – Canary Wharf for brunch on a deal which was a cocktail and brunch for £17.00 for two. Usually we are sceptical about these deals but we had nothing to do on that Saturday. So we booked this deal and arrived at the busy restaurant in the Hilton. The restaurant was open plan and very airy. It was literally fully booked (apparently this deal has got very popular in the last few months).
We were seated and offered orange juice and coffee. We then had a choice of one dish of the a la carte menu as well as the continental buffet and the hot buffet in the far corner. We were surprised at the amount of choice that was in the deal as this was not specified. On the a la carte menu I ordered scallops (I thought it would be light before the other breakfast items I had been eyeing up, as I realise it is not the most obvious breakfast choice) and my fellow diner ordered Thai beef salad (not breakfasty either but hey it was after 12…just about). We also ordered a Bellini which came out thick and sickly. We decided to give that a miss. Our dishes came out, as I expected the scallop dish was very small with three slices of scallop topped with pea puree. Despite the size it was well cooked and tasty. The beef salad on the other hand was huge and I was glad I did not choose that option. This was dressed in a sticky honey and soy sauce and full of beef slices. My only criticism was that the sticky sauce was a little sweet and the beef well over cooked for my liking.
After that we headed to the hot buffet section, where we both chose scrambled eggs and salmon. The fish was surprisingly fresh, we saw them changing the plates on a regularly basis and the eggs were creamy and not watery as they often are when served on hot plates. We topped these with mushrooms that were delicious and very tasty – almost as good as if served straight from the kitchen in one of our favourite brunch options.
We finished off with some fresh fruit and coffee.
Whatever your choice in brunch dishes you would not struggle to find something here. There is cereal, ham, fish, English breakfast, waffles and even a menu option. Ok we didn’t like the cocktail and we certainly have had better breakfast/brunches, but we must admit that this buffet option did not disappoint.
The service was good as you did not have a set waiter and they revolved around the room wherever they were needed, this did cause us to have to remind them about the cocktails as they had forgotten if we had ordered but over all worked well for a casual hotel buffet brunch option.

However we would not make a special effort to go unless we are in the area and the menu is not as good as the a la carte options in independent restaurants.
