We had in mind to find a really good Gastropub in central and boy did we find it!

The Lady Ottoline is located in a back street in Holborn (of all places). It has only been open a month which may explain why it lacks experienced staff members even though they were polite and very welcoming.

It took a long while to place our order but once the waiter gave us his attention, we ordered wine, starter and Sunday main course and after a long while the mains came out first (considering it was not a Thai or Vietnamese, sorry Anna) this was not acceptable! So, we asked the waiter about this and  apparently even though he had written it all down and repeated our order he had however not managed to communicate this with the Chef. We are being harsh but to be fair; the relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff and amazing food made up for this.

We had Orange Duck with a Paté and Soya Mousse followed by a Mixed Meat Sunday dinner that was out of this world! The wine, food and service (ignoring the starter/main mix up) were outstanding and we really couldn’t have asked for a better Gastropub atmosphere in central if we had tried.

All in all, considering it’s a Gastropub, The Lady Ottoline scores from Sex Drugs and Bacon Rolls:
